“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, new things have come.

Restoring FAITH and HOPE to the homeless families of Middle Georgia.

What We Do

The Restoration Initiative is a faith based non-profit organization that provides transitional housing and support services for homeless families in our local community.  Our mission is to live out the love of Jesus by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the families we serve.  We are a program designed to foster awareness, accountability, responsibility, and empowerment, as our families work toward self-sufficiency.

How We Do It

The Restoration Initiative provides a home, food, transportation, and other basic needs to a homeless family in the Middle Georgia area each year.  During their 12 month stay, the family is offered supportive services in areas such as job placement, money management, continued education, and counseling, in an effort to better equip them with skills essential to planning and saving for their future.  These services are accompanied by Biblical teaching and spiritual encouragement, as we believe true life change comes through a relationship with Jesus.  We strive to show the love of God and the power of transformation though a saving faith in Jesus Christ.

The Restoration Initiative Values

We Value Relationships

We are called, as followers of Christ, to care for God’s people.  We strive to love others as ourselves and to reflect God’s love through our words and actions.

“Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.  Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind, regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but for the interests of others.”

Philippians 2:1-4

“The rich and the poor have a common bond, The Lord is the maker of them all.”

“Now we who are strong ought to bear the weakness of those without strength and not just please ourselves.  Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.”

Romans 15:1-2

We Value Stewardship

The world and everything in it belongs to God.  Every blessing we receive, both spiritual and material, is a precious gift from Him.  We are responsible for every dollar and resource God entrusts us with.

“Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.”

James 1:17

“Then the King will say to those on His right…For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me…Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did It to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

Matthew 25:34-40

“But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?  Let us not love with word or tongue, but in deed and truth.”

1 John 3:17-18

We Value Biblical Truth

We believe God’s word, the Bible, is the ultimate authority in our life.  We have a passion for sharing the Good News of Jesus and serving according to the truth found in scripture.  We see outreach as an opportunity to answer the call of Jesus to go and make disciples.

“And He said to them, “Go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation.””

Mark 16:15

“All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Get Involved

We are an all-volunteer run organization providing basic needs such as housing, food, transportation, and childcare for the families we serve.  All monetary donations go directly toward supporting our current family. The Restoration Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and your donations are fully tax-deductible.

We are always looking for new and gently used household goods to establish and maintain the home.  An updated list of specific items can be found under CURRENT NEEDS.  All donations are greatly appreciated and can be picked up at your convenience.  If you are able to provide a service that would bless our current family, please contact us at any time.

We WELCOME volunteers and have opportunities for EVERYONE.  We encourage anyone who would like to get involved to contact us.  Please click “Current Needs” for an updated list of immediate opportunities.

We believe in the power of prayer, which is a way for everyone to be involved in our mission.  Please pray for God’s leading and direction as we strive to live out the mission He has placed on our hearts.  Pray also for the families who call our houses “home” – that they would know God’s love and experience physical and spiritual restoration.

If you are touched or impacted by the story and mission of The Restoration Initiative, we would love for you to share it with friends and family.  Our long term vision includes the restoration of several homes, in an effort to support multiple families each year.  This will be possible through the support and generosity of others whose stories intersect with ours.
